Add a Little Cool to Your Commute

Help reduce the carbon footprint by promoting sustainable transportation in Montgomery County. Biking, scooter riding, walking, and using public transit can be a breeze! This winter, send the Montgomery County Department of Transportation a photo of your commute to win a gift card! Be creative and have fun commuting!

What is the Cool Commute Contest?

This Commuter Contest is as easy as 1, 2, 3! The Cool Commute Contest encourages you to help reduce the carbon footprint in Montgomery County by promoting sustainable transportation!

When does the contest take place?

This event takes place annually.  This year, the event starts on January 6, 2025 and continues through February 28, 2025!

How do I participate?

1. Use a bike, scooter, bus, or even a sled on your commute!
2. Take a selfie of you and your choice of sustainable transportation.
3. Email your selfie to commuter.services@montgomerycountymd.gov and be entered for a chance to win a $25 gift card.

What can I win?

You will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $25 gift card! A winner will be picked every week and their photo featured on @MCDOTNow’s social media platforms including X, Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. Winners will be notified by email.

Contest open to those 18+ that live or work in Montgomery County, MD.

Winners are required to respond within four days, by the following Tuesday at 5 p.m. If no response is received within this timeframe, an alternative entry will be chosen to take their place.
